NSF supported WSSU Faculty Workshop on Data Science Pedagogy & Practice

The ability to manipulate data and understand Data Science is becoming increasingly critical in educating students for the 21st century workforce. The rise of data is now transforming every domains including science, business and social sciences. Are we teaching our students to use data to its best advantage? How do we incr ease the awareness and interest? What should we teach them? How do we integrate the data science concepts in the current curriculum? What are the available tools and infrastructures? Come to this NSF supported research capacity building workshop to learn about Data Science and Machine Learning Concepts, pedagogical methods, and teaching tools, and form collaboration with other interested WSSU faculties in integrating them into your research or teaching.

Up to 15 registered workshop participants will be awarded $250 honorarium for attending the workshop.

Workshop participants will be have a chance to apply for the “Faculty Adopter Award” during Fall’19, Spring’20, and Fall’20 semesters. The award will pay a one-time salary of $2,500. As an awardee, you will include Data Science or machine learning into your research or teaching, assess your integration, submit a report, and share your experience in a seminar presentation.
